This exploratory summer program, newly designed in its fourth year, is crafted for students entering 5th through 12th grades and offers a unique opportunity to explore specialized topics through instruction from Berks County educators, college students and community experts. Hosted on ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥'s vibrant campus, Momentum Makers provides a dynamic environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery.


The Momentum Makers Camp features a variety of specialized one-week camps, each focusing on a distinct theme. These weeks are designed to allow students to explore specific subjects, engaging in new experiences, learning and interfacing with industry standard tools, developing career-readiness and forming lasting relationships with peers and mentors. Each camp is unique—students are welcome to join multiple weeks to experience a variety of subjects. Additionally, the Exploratory Camp offers a more robust experience; allowing students to engage with various topics, receive research mentorship and access lab spaces. The Exploratory Camp provides the opportunity for students to continue their learning experience across multiple weeks.

Dates

• Berks Camps: June 23 – July 17, 2025

• Pottsville Camp: July 21 – 25, 2025 (Registration will open March 2025)

Time

4 days, camp runs from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Locations

Alvernia, 400 Saint Bernadine St., and the John R. Post Center at Reading CollegeTowne, 401 Penn St. (Specific location information provided in camp descriptions)

Tuition

$275 per week + $50 program fee

Transportation

Students will be dropped off and picked up at Commuter Lot C, 400 Saint Bernadine St. Those attending a camp at the John R. Post Center will be transported to the Center's front entrance by an ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ shuttle. Students attending camps at 400 Saint Bernadine St. will remain there until parent/care-giver pick-up.

Themed Camps

Exploratory Camp (Weekly offering: June 23 – July 17, 2025)


This camp provides a well-rounded Total Experience Learning offering, where students have the chance to explore a variety of subjects in an engaging and supportive environment. Participants will dive into a variety of fields, including music, art, esports, virtual reality, biomedical and natural sciences, environmental science, fashion and sustainability, culinary science, and more. They'll have access to experienced mentors and industry-standard equipment through ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥. Each day introduces new activities designed to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity. Whether you're discovering a new interest or deepening your knowledge in a familiar area, the Exploratory Camp provides a space for meaningful learning and exploration.

 
Fashion & Sustainability Camp (Week 1: June 30–July 3, Week 2: July 7-July 10)


Join us for an exciting, STEAM-based Fashion theme week where creativity meets environmental and social consciousness. Campers will explore the global impact of the fashion industry, exploring environmental impacts from the fashion industry, such as the tannery industry's effects on rivers like the Ganges and the socio-economic challenges tied to global production. Through hands-on activities, participants will learn to upcycle and repurpose materials, develop sewing skills, and gain industry-grade product development experience. They’ll also analyze e-commerce trends, compare costs, and assess the true price of fashion. Explore current trends and history while creating stylish, sustainable fashion for a better future!

 
 
Medical Science (June 23–26)


Explore the world of medicine and human health by engaging in hands-on experiments, case studies, and lab investigations. Mentored and guided by physicians, students are empowered to think like medical researchers and healthcare professionals, using cutting-edge techniques to analyze diseases, explore medical technology, and develop problem-solving skills crucial for future careers in medicine.

 
Visual Arts (Week 1: June 30–July 3, Week 2: July 14–17)


The Visual Arts theme week offers a dynamic opportunity to refine foundational art skills while working on a self-designed independent project. Participants will explore perspective drawing, develop their own artistic concepts, and bring them to life through hands-on creation. The program also includes artist research, allowing students to draw inspiration from established figures in the art world. Through interactive critiques and constructive feedback, campers will enhance their technique and conceptual approach.

 
 
Business & Entrepreneurship Week (July 7–10)


Transform your ideas into real-world ventures in this immersive week. Students will learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship by developing business models, conducting market research, and pitching ideas. They’ll explore consumer preferences, analyzing demographics and psychographics to create products, packaging, and advertising strategies that connect with target audiences. Students will also focus on building brand awareness through creative logos and advertisements, while understanding the product life cycle and how companies innovate to stay relevant in today’s market."

 
Culinary Science (Week 1: June 30-July 3, Week 2: July 14–18)


Students will explore the exciting world where cooking meets science. They'll master kitchen essentials like knife skills, kitchen safety, measuring, and cooking methods such as baking, sautéing, and grilling. Students will also dive into food science, learning how ingredients and experimenting with molecular gastronomy. Guest chefs and food scientists will share their expertise, and students will put their creativity to the test in a Mystery Ingredient Challenge. This hands-on program blends culinary techniques with scientific discovery, offering a fun and educational way to unlock the art of cooking!

 
 
Esports (Week 1: July 7–10, Week 2: July 14–18)


Esports is more than just playing games—it’s about mastering strategy, teamwork, and critical thinking in a high-stakes environment. In this camp, students will analyze gameplay tactics, develop leadership and communication skills, and engage in competitive team-based challenges. By studying professional strategies and applying data-driven decision-making, they’ll gain valuable skills that translate beyond gaming—preparing them for success in competitive and collaborative environments alike.
