Alvernia and Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing (JFMSON) Partnership 

In collaboration with , ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ offers a Dual-Enrollment Program leading to an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science (AS).  With dual-enrollment admission, students will be simultaneously enrolled in the hospital-based Nursing Program offered at JFMSON and ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥â€™s University’s Associate of Science Degree.  Dual enrollment is structured to provide a seamless career mobility pathway while providing graduates with the credentials to sit for the professional nursing licensure exam, NCLEX, upon successful completion. 

 

Dual-Enrollment Program graduates will be eligible to receive the following credentials: 

  • Diploma in Nursing from JFMSON (ACEN accredited and PA State Board of Nursing Approved) 
  • Associate in Science Degree in Applied Science from ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ 

 

Key Components of Partnership 

  • Only one admission process.  Students apply only to the JFMSON and ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥â€™s requirements are embedded into the streamlined process 
  • Alvernia and JFMSON work together to deliver qualified students' financial aid  
  • Alvernia offers the required first-year general education credits at their Schuylkill Center Complex, located two miles from the JFMSON building 
  • An additional 12 general education credits are embedded into upper level nursing sequence 
  • All JFMSON and ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ coursework contribute to the associate’s degree and transcripted for college credit 
  • Full access to all ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ on ground and online resources at the Schuylkill Center and main campus in Reading, PA 

 

Complete ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥â€™s RN-BSN Completion Program for just 34 additional credits 

  • RN-BSN coursework offered at the Schuylkill Center in an online blended format or choose to take courses entirely online. 
  • The entire bachelor's degree can be completed in the Pottsville region  

 

Dual-Enrolled Program Credit Breakdown 

  • Dual-Enrolled Applied Science Associate’s Degree and Diploma in Nursing (90 credits) 
    • 50 credits nursing (JFMSON) 
    • 40 credits general education and related requirements (ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥) 
  • RN-BSN Completion Program (34 credits) 
    • 24 credits nursing (ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ University)  
    • 9 additional credits of general education (ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥)
