Alvernia alumna and Army Veteran Geiger delivers remarks
Alvernia unveiled a Chair of Honor to acknowledge Veterans who are Prisoners of War or Missing in Action at the university’s annual Veterans Day Celebration.
The chair, which was constructed by , includes the Seal and will be displayed in Francis Hall and available for exhibit at future university and Veterans Center events.
Alvernia alumna Colonel Deborah Geiger ’83 shared remarks with those in attendance. Geiger spent 30 years in the United States Army and earned 13 awards and decorations for her service, including the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Commendation Medal. She is also the recipient of the Her Leo A. Codd Memorial Award, awarded to the best ROTC instructor nationwide, and was named an ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ Distinguished Alumni in 2012.
The Muhlenberg High School Airforce JROTC presented the colors for the event, and the mission moment was provided by Daniel Ortiz ’21, who is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling program.
