Berks native and Nike Chief Design Officer John Hoke III speaks at BELC event

 

Berks native and Nike, Inc.’s Chief Design Officer John Hoke III shared highlights from his career journey with ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ students, faculty, administration, staff and other local business executives at the Berks Executive Leadership Council (BELC) lecture hosted at the university’s Upland Center.

Hoke, who leads Nike’s global design team and is responsible for envisioning the future of sport, shared how he first contacted Nike as an adolescent, his thoughts on design, and how he manages and inspires his international creative community of over 1,000 designers.

 

Hoke promotes, speaks and writes about the power and possibility of design and creativity throughout the world. He is a permanent design fellow at Pennsylvania State University, his alma mater; a member of Herman Miller, Inc.’s Board of Directors; an advisor to Piaggio Fast Forward, and a trustee at Pacific Northwest College of Art. John also served as national trustee of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.

 

Prior to Nike, Hoke was a designer at Michael Graves Architecture & Design in Princeton, New Jersey. His work included architectural, industrial and graphic design for a wide variety of international clientele. Mr. Graves served as a personal mentor until his death in 2015. John holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University, B.Arch; University of Pennsylvania, M.Arch; and Stanford University, MBA.
