Largest planned gift by an alumnus supports scholarships, student aid

Alvernia has received a transformational planned gift commitment from Jeff Bush ’79, CEO and Chief Financial Officer of WellSpring Financial Services. The seven-figure planned gift is the largest ever made by an alumnus in the university’s 66-year history and will provide significant support for scholarships and other student aid resources.

Bush’s gift comes as part of the university’s Partners in Progress Campaign, a $70 million campaign to build stronger communities by redefining higher education.

Fitzgerald, Ph.D. “His transformative gift will open doors for future generations of students, providing essential access to an ����ֱ�� education for those with financial need. We are profoundly grateful for his leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to giving back to his alma mater.”

A first-generation college student, Bush credits the financial support he received as a student at ����ֱ�� for enabling him to complete his education. His planned gift will ensure that others have similar opportunities.

“I never imagined I could make a gift of this size, but through planned giving, I discovered a way to leave a lasting impact,” said Bush. “I hope my commitment inspires others to explore this meaningful way of giving. ����ֱ�� played a crucial role in my life, and I want to ensure future students have the same chance to pursue their dreams.”

A magna cum laude graduate of ����ֱ�� with a degree in business management, Bush went on to earn his MBA in finance from St. Joseph’s University. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation as a trusted financial strategist, helping clients navigate asset protection, wealth transfer, and retirement planning. His expertise has been featured in USA Today, CNBC, Kiplinger, U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, and more.

Beyond his professional success, Bush remains actively involved in community service. He previously served on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, was recognized with the UGI Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Community Service, and is a graduate of the Leadership Berks program.

Bush’s gift reflects ����ֱ��’s continued momentum in its Partners in Progress Campaign, which seeks to expand opportunities for students and elevate the university’s impact as a comprehensive regional university.
