Travel abroad
Travel Abroad Experiences
Assistant Professor of Leadership & Healthcare Science and Sustainability Initiatives Director, Dr. Alicia Sprow, traveled with six students and three alumni to Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick, Canada, as a part of the Sustainability Global Immersion Program that introduces students to an efficient, sustainable island community in partnership with the Castalia Marsh Eco-Retreat and Grand Manan Community Museum. During the immersion experience, students provide service alongside community members, while they learn about leadership for sustainable change and sustainable living principles as well as expand their worldviews and exposure to other cultures during regular interactions with the island residents.

Teacher-Student Ratio
We believe that maintaining a low teacher to student ratio provides our students with the personalized attention, focus, and learning environment required for our students to pursue their personal excellence. Because we are committed to smaller class sizes, we can meaningfully engage with our students and often become their mentors, confidants聽and strongest advocates.

Title III Grants

COM 131, Writing for the Media, Dr. Lange added more scaffolding to his assignments by providing comprehensive rubrics to aid students in putting together their early assignments. The expanded rubrics helped students understand what they needed to consider as they assembled each piece of writing. In avoiding common pitfalls, student grades improved, and their performance in other classes was also positively affected. Eventually, students collated their work into a form intended to be used in their e-portfolios, providing invaluable aid to students who wanted high-quality writing samples to offer possible internship supervisors or future employers. -- Ryan Lange, PhD, Associate Professor, Communication

Alvernia received a $2.3 million Title III grant from the U.S. Department of Education, under the Strengthening Institutions Program. The grant will enable 媚娘直播 to strengthen student achievement, persistence and retention, particularly in the formative first two years of the baccalaureate programs.
