The 12-credit Graduate Certificate in Nursing Leadership is offered to professional registered nurses who possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field, Masters in Nursing (MSN) or related field or Doctorate. Courses provide nurses with foundational knowledge and essential skills to fulfill leadership and management roles in various healthcare settings. In addition, credits earned are eligible to be applied to the MSN Program, Nursing Leadership and Healthcare Administration track.
Specific knowledge, skills and attributes of the Certificate are organized into four areas:
1. Interprofessional communication and collaboration
2. Knowledge of the healthcare environment
3. Healthcare business skills
4. Theoretical concepts of leadership
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate in Nursing Leadership, students will be able to:
- Apply oral, written and technological communication skills in an effective manner.
- Apply evidenced-based and outcome-measurement knowledge to a nursing leadership role.
- Attain effective utilization of healthcare business skills in the achievement of organizational goals.
- Integrate leadership theory
