Alumni Council 4


The Alumni Council is the advisory, governing body of ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥'s Alumni Association. The Council, comprised of approximately 26 elected graduates of varying class years, occupations, gender race and life experiences, serves as a representative voice for the alumni body and provides overarching guidance and direction to the Alumni Association as well as advice when called upon by the University in matters relating to alumni.

  • The Alumni Association Council supports the University mission and core values by cultivating a mutually beneficial relationship between the University and the alumni community. To that end, the Council will foster pride, loyalty, and a life-long connection to ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ among alumni, students, parents and friends.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the Alumni Council, please email alumni@alvernia.edu.

Participation on the committees will be conducted by email, teleconference or from time to time, on campus. Enrollment and Marketing Management Committee
The Enrollment and Marketing Management Committee will work closely with the Enrollment Management Division and the Office of Institutional Advancement. The committee will be responsible for identifying new/enhanced methods of increasing enrollment, student retention, and marketing opportunities so alumni can stay involved and connected to the University. The committee will provide assistance to established programs and help develop marketing content to increase awareness and visibility.

Engagement and Philanthropy Committee
The Engagement and Philanthropy Committee will assist the Institutional Advancement team in educating students and alumni about the impact of engagement and philanthropy The committee will strive to increase engagement among alumni and students both on and off campus. This work will enhance current programs including, but not limited to Homecoming and Family Weekend, MargartiaVern and regional programs with a focus on philanthropy and expanding opportunities for alumni and students to connect.

Career Development Committee
The Career Development Committee of the Alumni Council works with the University’s Career Development Office in addressing the transition from college to career. The committee looks to facilitate alumni engagement at every level, including mentoring students, career guidance, networking, providing informational interviews, externships and internships.

Nominations, Awards, and Governance Committee
The Nomination, Awards, and Governance Committee is charged with identifying, reviewing and recommending new Council members as well as directing and managing programs of orientation for new members. The Committee will also be responsible for managing the nomination and awards process for recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award, Ellen Frei Gruber Award and Four Under Forty Awards. The committee will also lead a regular review of Council Bylaws and Responsibilities.
