Bio: 

Mary Kay Bernosky, Esq. is the Chief Executive Officer of Safe Berks (formerly Berks Women in Crisis). She has been with the agency since 2005. Mary Kay is a graduate of DeSales University; received a Juris Doctorate from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law of the College of William and Mary; and received a Master of Business Administration from ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ in 2003.


During her tenure, Mary Kay has overseen the successful construction of the new Safe Berks Center, a project funded primarily from private funds that now houses all Safe Berks services. The center provides capacity for up to 50 individuals, a greater than 50% increase of available beds to those who require immediate safe shelter. In addition, the new facility has allowed for expanded programming to provide supportive, trauma informed therapy and a safe healing project that utilizes a roof top garden as part of the center’s trauma informed services. In addition, under Mary Kay’s leadership there has been increased focus on providing services to adult victims of sexual assault, outreach to college campuses and expanded prevention programs.


Mary Kay’s commitment to the community is impressive. She has served on the Board of Directors of Helping Harvest, Berks County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. She is also a member of Women Excelling Berks County, the Chapter of American Business Women Association; and a member of the Society of Human Resource Professionals of Berks County.
