Various student leadership opportunities are available during the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥ Opportunities for Leadership features a single application for multiple positions and concludes with a group and individual interview process, known as AOL Interview Day.
Available Positions for 2024-2025 Academic Year
- Golden Guide Student Ambassador: The Golden Guides Student Ambassadors educate prospective students and their parents about ÃÄÄïÖ±²¥, from both the academic and social perspectives. In addition, the Student Ambassadors actively participate in university-related events, on- and off-campus, generate student involvement, provide tours to prospective students and families, and serve as a network for other university activities and organizations on campus. This is an academic-year-long commitment.
- Orientation Weekend Leader (OWL): Assist in making our new students feel welcome during New Student Orientation (NSO). Answer any questions our new students or their families might have, or direct the new student to the appropriate person to answer the question. OWLs lead student groups and activities. OWLs must attend training prior to NSO, and must participate in all activities relating to NSO, including Check-In and Move-In. This is a week-long commitment in August prior to classes starting.
- SEARCH Seminar Peer Mentor (PM): Every SEARCH Seminar is assigned a peer mentor, an upper-division student who acts as a guide and resource for students as they adjust to college life and academic expectations. Each mentor establishes his or her unique relationship with students in their section, but all students can expect peer mentors to model successful time management techniques, help them learn how to find and use information about student support services and guide them toward informed decision-making. This is a semester-long commitment.
